Welcome to Elm Street Cultural Arts Village

Four acres. Four kinds of fun.
All in the heart of downtown Woodstock.

Elm Street Initial Site Map

The Elm Street Cultural Art Village is an exciting plan for a four acre cultural arts complex in downtown Woodstock. The site will include a performance theater, a visual arts center in a restored century-old farmhouse, and an historic visitors center to tell the story of Woodstock’s past. Elm Street’s park-like setting will include a sculpture garden, restored native wildflower area, community gardens, and historic re-creations of flower and produce gardens around the old house.

What Will Elm Street Do?

We expect Elm Street to become an arts and recreation destination for Cherokee County, providing a  green and inviting space for arts events and festivals, theatrical, dance and music performances, and historical workshops and preservation efforts. With a four acre park and garden setting, the collaborative possibilities are endless: outdoor garden and food events, sculpture installations along the bike trail, historical re-enactments complete with improv drama teams telling the stories…
Elm Street is the kind of place that brings out the “creative juices” in all kinds of folks for arts and entertainment events.

Among its many benefits, we expect Elm Street to:

  • Create a regional tourism destination
  • Stimulate the local economy through events-related spending, shopping and dining
  • Boost real estate values (an historically well documented effect of arts attractions)
  • Improve quality of life and cultural arts activities for County residents, arts and cultural groups
  • Supplement declining public education budgets with innovative arts education and programming
  • Serve as a cultural asset to aid business recruitment to Cherokee County

The Mission

Finally, we expect Elm Street to do what arts organizations always do – uplift and inspire the community to make our daily surroundings more beautiful, and educate our children in the power of creativity.

Our mission is to be a public, participatory arts and cultural center, providing facilities and green space for community cultural events and programming

Where Is It?

The site is on 4+ acres, just one block off Main Street – in the heart of downtown Woodstock. The location of the site is also adjacent to the proposed Greenprints Trail, providing ample access to the Village for both pedestrians and bikers using this new recreational trail system.

Its Features:

When completed, the Elm Street Village will include a cultural arts complex, a new city park, gardens, and community green space, including but not limited to:

  • A Community Theater
  • Artists’ Studios and Instruction Space
  • Art Galleries & Coffee Shop
  • History and Visitors Center
  • Woodstock Farmers Market
  • Events Green
  • Community Vegetable Gardens
  • Pottery and Metalworking Studios
  • Sculpture Garden, Restored Native Plant Areas, and much more…
