The Lantern Series is designed to bring world-renowned artists here to our community. The series consists of different genres, backgrounds, and ideologies in hopes of bringing the community together to find a literal and figurative common ground.

The Lantern Series is about conversations and community.

While world-class performances will be taking place, the community as a whole will be able to come and converse. This series will strive to introduce new music, ideas, and cultures, that are not typical for the community. We hope that this venture will grow into building more, deeper, and authentic moments with you involved.

This Season

May 18th, 2019

Huntertones brings people together around the globe with fun, imaginative and fearless music. Their high energy, horn-driven sound fuses inspired improvisation and adventurous composition melding jazz, funk, rock, and soul. Adding depth and contrast to their live set, Huntertones shift from a dynamic six-piece ensemble to a trio featuring saxophone, sousaphone, and beat-boxing, keeping their listeners’ eyes and ears open at every turn.

Violet Bell

June 1st, 2019
Modern Bluegrass

Violet Bell’s original Americana is woven from threads of folk, soul, bluegrass, psychedelic, and classical music. On stage and in the studio, the energy between duo Lizzy Ross and Omar Ruiz-Lopez is fiery, intimate and intuitive. The two share a mutual love of rock, hip-hop and R&B that finds its way into their traditionally rooted music.

The Lee Boys

June 22nd, 2019
Sacred Steel

The Lee Boys are one of America’s finest African-American sacred steel ensembles. This family group consists of three brothers, Alvin Lee (guitar), Derrick Lee and Keith Lee (vocals) along with their three nephews, Roosevelt Collier (pedal steel guitar), Alvin Cordy Jr. (7-string bass) and Earl Walker (drums). Each member began making music at the ages of 7 and 8 in the House of God church they attended in Perrine, FL.  Born and raised in Miami, each of The Lee Boys grew up in the church where their father and grandfather, Rev. Robert E. Lee, was the pastor and a steel player himself.

House of Waters

July 27th, 2019

“In today’s world, there are no musical boundaries,” says Max ZT of House of Waters, a trio that makes those words come alive as they incorporate elements of West-African, jazz, psychedelic, indie rock, classical and world music into their astonishingly unique sound. The band features Max on hammered dulcimer, Moto Fukushima on six-string bass and percussionist/drummer Argentinian-born Ignacio Rivas-Bixio! House of Waters’ music is both complex and easy to enjoy, a musical exploration that invites listeners to open themselves to new sounds.
